In India, children are sold by their parents to work in sweatshops where carpets are made many for export here. Captured on tape is the dramatic raid of one such factory where 126 overworked children, many ill and disfigured, are rescued by authorities. Same of the kids you'll see are so numbed by endless 12-hour days at the looms that they can't comprehend that they are free. Young girls are tricked into flying into the jungles of Brazil where they are put to work in mining outpost brothels. Some reportedly have been killed trying to escape.
A Brazilian investigative reporter's expose led to another raid that is shown. Most startling, perhaps, is a segment on how homeless people in the United States have been transported to the South to work as farm laborers and have ended up virtual prisoners. The practice is called peonage. Conditions on farms ace so inhumane that the legal description of slavery applies. The goons running the farms will make your skin crawl.
