With the release of Patch 7, Larian Studios included a multitude of new endings for Baldur's Gate 3. Evil playthroughs received criticsim for lacking content and to remedy this, Larian Studios not only included a collection of Tav and Dark Urge evil endings, but also a unique evil ending for each of the six Origin characters. The darkest possible outcome for the Origin cast can now be experienced, allowing the player to see just how evil some of the kindest characters can be.
Each ending begins the same, with the character upon the Elder Brain and gazing over the ruined city below. The narrator explains the crutch of the character's desire and how their new perception of their past problems is nothing to them now, each Origin character receiving their own personalized dialogue. As they descend to the city below and force the population to kneel, an option at the top of the list gives the player the chance to see the unique cut scene and how their story of depravity comes to an end.
6 Wyll Ascends The Baldur's Gate Throne As A Malevolent Ruler
A Tyrant Duke Of Baldur's Gate
Becoming Duke of Baldur's Gate was not on Wyll Ravenguard's original agenda, having resigned to being the Blade of Frontiers and fighting devils until his eventual fate to live as Lemure. Be it Mizora's influence or his flawed views on enforced peace, Wyll takes his place as Duke Ravenguard and transforms everyone with a tadpole in their brain into mindflayers. If the people are completely subservient to the will of their leader, then peace is ensured.

New Baldur's Gate 3 Update Just Changed The Game Forever
Patch 7 is one of the most highly anticipated updates to Baldur’s Gate 3 since launch. It’s now live for PC players only - here’s what to expect.
When given absolute power upon defeating and capturing the Elder Brain, Wyll's decision to rule is enacted with a twisted sense of peace and justice. An evil Wyll playthrough run explores that even the most heroic and just of characters can be corrupted when given great, unmatched power. A tyrant with the desire to do good can be just as evil as a dictator who wishes suffering. Wyll can be described with the common phrase, "the ends justify the means."
5 Karlach's Kindhearted Nature Turns To Violent Contempt
Burning Baldur's Gate To The Ground
Karlach is iconic in Baldur's Gate 3 for her big heart and desire to do what is good, no matter what the outcome. Her Chaotic Good alignment is dismantled in her evil playthrough, shifting her dramatically over to Chaotic Evil. Players will get to enjoy a trademark Karlach monologue as she decides the fate of Baldur's Gate and the cowering people within. Playfully, Karlach summons a horde of devils from Avernus to tear the people to shreds. She does it because she can, for no more reason than pettiness for the people choosing Gortash as their protector.
The fun-loving, kindhearted tiefling accepts that people perceive her as a devil.
Karlach's evil ending explores her infernal engine heart being the cause of her predicted death, due to Faerun's climate being unable to withstand the heat her body emits. Instead of remaining a character who would accept death rather than face the fires of Avernus again or put others at risk, Karlach chooses to tear out that heart and burn the world around her for the glee of it. The fun-loving, kindhearted tiefling accepts that people perceive her as a devil, just like Wyll did at the beginning of the game.
4 Gale Unleashes His Wrath, Abandoning His Typically Jovial Attitude
War Against The Gods
Gale's relationship with the gods is a turbulent one. His misguided ambitions, ruled by a poorly masked pride, are clear in all versions of the character. Without anyone to help Gale calm his desire for his own seat in the heavens, Gale is free to rage war against the gods. In his evil ending, Gale's lust for power is sated, but his place as a god is not secured. As the people of Baldur's Gate fall prey to his dominion and destroy images of Mystra and other gods, he opens a portal for his march against the celestial.
Gale's evil conclusion is only a stone throw over the line of what he is capable of.
The evil ending for Gale is not unexpected. Where other Origin characters make quite chaotic decisions that would not entirely seem plausible if they were in the player's party for a Tav run, Gale's evil conclusion is only a stone throw over the line of what he is capable of. His jovial behavior and jesting is a smoke screen for his inadequacy when he compares himself with the gods, and when given the power of an evil nature, not the celestial type he can receive in a good run, it is almost understandable that he wishes to show the gods, who he considers arrogant observers, a taste of a mortal's wrath.
3 Lae'zel Embraces The Power Of The Mindflayers To Begin A New Githyanki Era
The New Lich-Queen
Unlike the other Origin evil endings, Lae'zel embraces aspects of her character that are more apparent in her first meeting and then enhanced by her eventual disdain for Vlaakith. Like a number of her endings before Patch 7, Lae'zel takes to the skies upon a red dragon with the intention of casting Vlaakith from her perpetual throne. In her good endings, she does so with only a silver sword at her side, but now she has an army of mindflayers and loyal githyanki.

Easily-Missed New Baldur's Gate 3 Feature Should Let It Win GOTY Two Years In A Row
Shadowheart and Scratch can now be seen interacting in the player's camp, making the player's safe haven feel more alive in Patch 7 than ever before.
When Astarion has succeeded in his ascension, Lae'zel claims, "We seek might not for individual power, but for the good of the collective." This ideal is the major difference between a regular Lae'zel playthrough and her evil ending. Lae'zel wanted to free the githyanki from their oppressive queen and would never accept illithid power to do so. In her evil ending, she openly embraces it and immediately proclaims herself the new Lich Queen. With untold tadpole power, freedom does not taste sweet enough, but replacing the current power structure with her own does.
2 Astarion Becomes The Monster Cazador Created
King Of The Sun
If there was a character who fit perfectly into the role of Absolute Leader with ultimate power, it is Astarion. Upon ensnaring the Elder Brain, Astarion achieves everything he desired: endless protection from the sun, loyal followers who love him, and the opportunity to stand at the top, rather than scheming and prowling at the bottom. Even with all the power of the mindflayers at his fingertips, there is still a lingering desire for acceptance and a place in the world implied by the narrator through Astarion's internal thoughts.
In standard Astarion fashion, he can not resist being deceitful even when holding power over those kneeling before him. He does not need to pretend to be a benevolent new king of Baldur's Gate before having his vampire spawn herd and feast on the helpless population, but he does. Astarion's evil ending is him becoming everything he was trying to break away from - a more murderous Cazador. Yet he is weak to gifted power and embraces the ingrained darker side of his character; becoming the monster that Cazador created.
1 Shadowheart Becomes An Oppressive Goddess After Breaking Free Of One
Shar's Chosen Rebels
Shadowheart's evil ending focuses on false freedom from the constraints of her faith. Throughout Baldur's Gate 3, Shadowheart is chained by serving her goddess Shar and even when she steps out of the shadow, she embraces her side as a Selûnite. She may be more free in her decisions during the standard playthrough when she spares the Nightsong, but she is still bound to faith as a major part of her characterization. With ultimate power, she is no longer trapped between two warring goddesses.
Shadowheart has the option to create a new faith in her image, ironically mimicking what Shar and Selûne represent. By having her new followers brutally slaughter all the followers of the two goddesses, Shadowheart leans into everything she learned to detest throughout Baldur's Gate 3. When finally given the freedom to choose without restraint, an evil Shadowheart is unable to escape the reality of her past. Her mind is forever warped by the concept of faith, only it is her people worship.
