New Evil Endings for All Origin Characters
Patch Seven for Baldur's Gate 3 is finally here, and the devs over at Larian have cooked up a nice treat for those of you who like to get a little bit more evil. With this patch, they've added a few different endings that explore the options you have as the ruler of Faerun. Will you slaughter the world in Bhaal's name, or take the future of the world into your own hands?

Which endings are available to you differs depending on a few things, like whether you take advantage of the Illithid tadpoles you collect throughout the game. The Bhaal endings are limited to Dark Urge characters who've accepted their father's plan for their lives, but there are also new evil options for normal Tavs as well. The cherry on top is that not only does the PC Origin character, the Durge, have a new evil ending, but so too do each of the other Origin characters.

Now You Can Indulge In Cruelty As You Rule All Of Faerun
For any of us who've played evil Tavs, you're sure to have seen the "In my name." evil ending, wherein you dominate the Netherbrain and take its power to become the Absolute. This was the only true evil ending to the game until Patch Seven, which has introduced quite a few new cutscenes and choices that give your evil run a bit of extra flavor. Should You Start A New Save File for Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7?
Patch 7 will be the last major update for Baldur’s Gate 3, but is there enough new content to warrant a brand-new playthrough of the RPG?
The first "section" of new ending cutscenes come if you choose to take the power of the Netherbrain for yourself, forsaking Orpheus or the Emperor in order to do so. Once you defeat whichever Illithid you have with you, you'll have a few choices regarding how your rule over Faerun will go. Here are your options as Tav:
- Resist Ceremorphosis and conquer the world, with the army of the Absolute at your command.
- Resist Ceremorphosis and brainwash the citizens of Baldur's Gate to live in mindless bliss, working at your behest to rebuild the city as a shrine to its new ruler.
- Resist Ceremorphosis and command all of Baldur's Gate to die.
- Resist Ceremorphosis and command the citizens of Baldur's Gate to slaughter one another.
- Give in to Ceremorphosis and command the citizens of Baldur's Gate to ingest Tadpoles, building the armies of the Mindflayers.
Ingesting tadpoles throughout your playthrough will make resisting Ceremorphosis harder, so make sure you're ready for the CON save before you make any decisions.
If you choose to rule the world without the Emperor or Orpheus taking control of the Netherbrain, those are your options. However; you can also choose to allow the Emperor to sit on the throne, ruling by his side as his Right Hand. If you get cold feet, you can also choose to try to kill the Emperor, but you'll quickly be stopped and killed.
New Evil Endings for The Dark Urge
Drench The World In Blood, But Who Will Die First?
The new Durge cutscene is truly dramatic and emphasizes Bhaal's plan for the world: to see it drenched in blood, with no living creature left. To obtain this ending, you'll need to follow Bhaal's teachings throughout the game, killing those Scleritas ask you to and not resist your murderous Urge. Once you reach the ending, you'll have two choices, though what you choose only slightly changes the ending you receive.
Choice | Ending |
---|---|
Slay your party at your Father's command. | Use the powers of Bhaal to slaughter Baldur's Gate and eventually the world. Walk through a wasteland of corpses as the last living being in existence as seen in Northalix's YouTube video. |
Urge your companions to run, but promise you will find them when the time comes. | Your companions will land and run away, and you won't see the bloody cutscene, but the implication is there that you eventually hunt them down in pursuit of your Father's goal. |
To get this ending, you do have to defeat Orin when you duel her to become Bhaal's Chosen. This role is unrelated to your status as an Unholy Assassin, though for those of you going for maximum flavor, you might as well embrace your bloody side. As long as you don't disappoint Bhaal by losing to Orin, you'll have the option to see this new cutscene.
New Evil Endings for All Origin Characters
Alongside The Durge, All Your Origin Playthroughs Can Now Be Evil-er Than Ever
Just like the Tav evil endings, the Origin character evil endings take place as long as you have killed one of the two Illithids and taken control of the Netherbrain. After you float down from the Netherbrain's platform, you'll have a fifth option alongside the previous Tav options. Select the first option with any Origin character to see that character's new ending.
You can check out each of the cutscenes in Northalix's compilation on YouTube. Here's each choice you'll make, and the consequences thereof:
Origin Character | Option | Ending |
---|---|---|
Astarion | "Infuse yourself with the power of the Absolute. Become the ruler you were destined to be." | Become the Sun King and ruler of Baldur's Gate, engulfing it in darkness and sending your vampire Spawn to feed freely. |
Shadowheart | "All my life, I've been caught between two warring goddesses. Time to plot a new course." | Manifest powers of both moonlight and darkness, destroying followers of Shar and Selune indiscriminately. |
Gale | "You destroyed one god. It's time the rest of the heavens shared in the Absolute's fate." | Claim the power of the Absolute, using it to tear open a door to the Celestial plane and command the people of Baldur's Gate to destroy their faith in the gods. |
Wyll | "I shall rule like no other has before me, as the great unifier, wise leader, and final judge." | Use the power of the Absolute to become the supreme ruler of the Sword Coast, forcing even your father to bow at your feet. |
Lae'zel | "With this power, I shall conquer Tu'narath. Queen Vlaakith's reign enters its final days." | Astride a Red Dragon, return to slay Queen Vlaakith, and take control of the Githyanki as you were meant to. |
Karlach | "F*** Baldur's Gate. F*** Avernus. They're mine now." | Tear open portals to Avernus, allowing all manner of Hellspawn to make Baldur's Gate their hunting ground. Not to be held back by the fragile heart you carry, rip it out of your chest and cast it away. |
Whether you play an Origin character or your own Tav, you'll have plenty of new evil options to enrich your playthrough's ending. Not only does Patch Seven introduce new endings for evil players to enjoy, but it also presents new challenges and balance changes that make Honor mode much harder.
With Baldur's Gate 3's first anniversary come and gone, it's no surprise that this GOTY-winning game is still finding new ways to surprise and delight players who have been here since day one.
